The Swatters Carr

The Swatters Carr is the Wetherspoon on Linthorpe Road, right by the university and a short walk up from Middlesbrough town centre. It’s a big, lively pub that’s been part of this stretch of Linthorpe Road in one form or another for well over a century, with the building previously known as the Empire Hotel.

It opens from 8am every day, so you can get breakfast in the morning before the main Wetherspoon menu takes over from 11:30am. There’s the usual mix of pub food, burgers, pizzas, curries and small plates, alongside cask ales, lager, spirits and soft drinks. There are TVs for sport, free Wi-Fi, a licensed outside area and step-free access.
